Judgment has been handed down in Child Care Director Ravi Kaur Mahey’s Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Protection Order case. Family Law Week has published the full judgment on their website. The judgment allows X, who is at risk of FGM, to travel to Egypt to see her father for the very first time after a previously issued FGM Protection Order which prevents her parents from ‘removing, seeking to remove, or instructing or encouraging any other person to remove’ her from the jurisdiction of England and Wales until 2032 has been temporarily lifted, something that will have a significant impact on the ability for the child and her parents to have a positive family life together.
